It is a second-generation Swiss automatic movement. Reliability is what really makes the ETA 2824-2 shine, both in accuracy and longevity. The 2824 can be had in four different grades – standard, elaboré, top, and chronometer. The most basic variant is adjusted in two positions, with a Nivarox hairspring and polyrubies for pallet jewels. ETA is best known for the production of two automatic movements with date, models 2824 and 2892. They are very similar in design. Both are 25.6 mm in diameter, however the 2892 is almost 28% thinner, being 3.6mm thick versus 4.6mm for the 2824.
Assuming ETA has not changed its nomenclature, the -2 is a modification of the 2824 which includes some internal improvements but which is interchangeable. But that is an assumption yet to be proved.
